Getting Started

You've made up your mind -- as a Pony Club, DC, or Instructor -- that Games is a useful activity for your club.  You've already taken the first step.  The second step will be to acquire the single most important piece of equipment for the Games program: Just one sincerely interested instructor, parent, or older Pony Club member to be your resident expert on games.   No previous experience or great riding ability is necessary.  This person will become familiar with the rules (USPC Games Rules) and will teach the other instructors in a large club, or will do all the teaching in a small club.  Eventually he/she will find themselves becoming a Games coach.

The coach and anyone who plays games, should read and become familiar with the entire USPC Games Rule Book.  The Rule Book contains many tips given on drills, games play, and games equipment.

If you need more help in setting up your Games Program, please contact the USPC Games Committee for names of games coaches or experienced games players or parents in your area that might be willing to help out.
